The Corporate CSR and Sustainability teams recently participated in the Green Campus initiative, continuing our third year of partnership with Silpakorn University’s Faculty of Engineering in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand, under the theme Circular Campus – Transforming Universities toward a Sustainable Circular Society.
Serving as guest speakers, our teams engaged more than 500 students from Creative, Circular Economy, and Change Agent courses. The CSR team led a session on Waste Sorting and PET Recycling, promoting responsible recycling behaviors in daily life, while the Sustainability team presented Product Innovation, showing how recycled PET can be transformed into high-value products that support the circular economy.
Their enthusiasm translated into action. Together, students collected over 1,390 kilograms of PET bottles (approximately 92,666 bottles) over the course of the three-month program, which were sent to our Polyester Operations in Nakhon Pathom for recycling. This effort reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 1.39 tons of carbon footprint, completing the From Campus to Factory circular loop that connects learning with real-world solutions.
The initiative not only strengthened environmental awareness among youth but also reinforced Indorama Ventures’ leadership as a Circular Economy Enabler, turning collaboration into measurable progress.
The program directly contributes to several UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
SDG 4 (Quality Education): Through recycling education.
SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production): By promoting waste reduction and responsible recycling practices within the university and daily life.
SDG 13 (Climate Action): By reducing our carbon footprint.
Through this partnership, we continue to create both social and business value, encouraging next-generation engagement, enhancing our brand visibility, and working together toward a more sustainable and circular society.
