The Eco-Island Application, developed through Indorama Ventures' CSR initiative on Koh Tao, took the national stage at the 4th Thailand Sustainable Islands Tourism Symposium in Samui, where representatives from more than 30 islands gathered to exchange ideas and best practices for sustainable tourism.

The symposium highlighted how environmental stewardship, economic opportunity, and community well-being can be advanced together. The Eco Island Application demonstrates this approach by using digital innovation to connect people with sustainable experiences while supporting local businesses and encouraging responsible tourism.

The application began as the winning concept from “Hack the Island”, Indorama Ventures' youth innovation program designed to empower young people to develop practical solutions for plastic waste and the circular economy. Rather than ending with the competition, the idea evolved through close collaboration with the Koh Tao community, local authorities, businesses, and the Koh Tao Tourism Association to ensure it addressed real community needs. The application was officially handed over to the Governor of Surat Thani Province and the President of the Koh Tao Tourism Association, enabling the community to lead its future development and long-term use.

Today, the application connects visitors with 14 sustainability destinations and experiences across Koh Tao, encouraging tourists to engage with the island beyond its beaches while supporting local enterprises and environmental initiatives. By making sustainable choices more visible and accessible, the platform helps transform visitors from passive tourists into active contributors to the island's sustainability journey.

For Indorama Ventures, this project reflects the belief that building a circular economy requires more than innovative solutions—it requires partnerships that create value for everyone involved. By bringing together youth, communities, local government, tourism operators, and civil society, the Eco Island Application demonstrates how collaboration can strengthen local resilience, support sustainable economic development, and inspire lasting behavioral change.

The project is an example of how Indorama Ventures creates shared value by combining business expertise, community partnership, and innovation to deliver solutions that benefit both people and the environment while contributing to more sustainable destinations for future generations.
